Najib: More time needed to show results before polls - Malaysiakini

Before calling for the next general election, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said he first wanted to show to the people what had actually been achieved through the various initiatives in the country's transformation agenda.

He said this in the 'Conversation with the PM' programme aired over TV3 tonight.

Noting that real changes were taking place since he took office in 2009, he said the government would need more time to ensure that the people felt the positive outcome of the transformation agenda.

"Because, when we plan things, it does take time (to show results), but I'm pleased that the outcome is positive," he said.

Queried on the opposition pact's election manifesto, Najib said the promises it contained would be impossible to deliver.

"The question is funding ... that they have not stated. Based on what they have done, many of the promises contained in the (election) manifesto of 2008 have remained just empty promises," he said.

On the opposition's pledge to lower car prices, Najib said the government had taken a step-by-step approach in the matter.

"Basically, Malaysians can look forward to cheaper cars but, at the same time, (it will) not destruct the second-hand car market," he said.

The government's plan would also give time for local car maker Proton to become more competitive, he said, adding that it would be a win-win situation and the best way forward for all those involved.

He urged Malaysians to have faith in the BN government to bring them a better future and take the country to greater heights as the best had yet to come.

He said the people should not gamble away their future by experimenting with an opposition comprising parties with markedly different agendas Najib said they were even at loggerheads as to who should be the leader if they were to form the government.

However, the prime minister expressed confidence that the people were behind the government as the country prepared to hold the much-awaited 13th general election.

Economy on solid track

The prime minister said under BN, the economy was on a solid track.

"We have been able to buck the external global economic trend. In the last quarter, we achieved 6.4 percent growth, which indicates the resilience of the national economy.

"When we talk about benefits to the people from 2009 to 2011, our Gross National Income (GNI) per capita has grown from US$6,670 to US$9,970, roughly about 49 percent.

"There is no country in the world that has achieved this kind of result," he said.

Najib said when the BN goes to the polls to seek a fresh mandate from the people, it was on the basis of a very solid track record.

"We can show the people that we have delivered," he added.

Pemuda MIC Perak Membidas Sikap Biadap Ngeh Koo Ham

Pemuda MIC Perak bersama-sama dengan pemimpin-pemimpin NGO berjumlah 50 orang telah berkumpul di hadapan Ibu Pejabat DAP Perak pada hari Khamis 7 Mac 2013 membantah sekeras-kerasnya sikap Ngeh Koo Ham yang biadap.

Dalam salah satu twitter Koo Ham, beliau telah menjatuhkan maruah masyarakat kaum India di Beruas apabila beliau menuduh kaum India mudah dibeli undinya dengan hanya disogok dengan barangan yang murah oleh BN.

Pemuda MIC Perak ingin mengingatkan Koo Ham bahawa masyarakat India menyokong kerajaan BN kerana percaya bahawa hanya BN dan MIC dapat membantu membaiki nasib mereka. Masyarakat India mampu menilai sumbangan dan bantuan kerajaan BN terhadap mereka demi untuk menambahbaik nasih mereka.

DAP hanya pandai melaung-laungkan slogan semasa pilihanraya kononnya ada membantu masyarakat India. Sdra M. Veeran selaku Ketua Pemuda MIC Perak mencabar Koo Ham dan pemimpin DAP India seperti ADUN Tronoh Sivakumar untuk mendedahkan apa yang telah beliau lakukan untuk membantu masyarakat India selama ini,

Pemuda MIC Perak juga mendesak Koo Ham supaya memohon maaf pada masyarakat India khasnya pengundi Beruas kerana telah menjatuhkan maruah mereka yang kononnya undi mereka begitu murah. Masyarakat India boleh menilai siapa yang sebenarnya yang dapat memperjuangkan nasib mereka.

Khairy picks Zambry as his best choice to lead Perak - MalaysianInsider

IPOH, Feb 25 – Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin feels Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir remains the best candidate to continue leading the state after the 13th General Election.

He said Zambry is a people-oriented leader who also understood the needs of the younger generation.

“I have worked alongside Zambry when we were both Umno Youth committee members and I personally feel that he is the best choice for the Perak Menteri Besar’s post,” he said.

Leaders from Barisan Nasional (BN) appointed as Menteri Besar should, among others, posses the criteria of understanding youths, he told reporters after an assembly with Perak Umno Youth Election Machinery here last night in the presence of Zambry and Perak Umno Youth Chief Khairul Azwan Harun.

On the Umno Youth election machinery in Perak, he said they were 100 per cent ready to face the coming general election.

He said the presence of about 8,000 Umno Youth members in Perak was unexpected but described it as proof of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s success in introducing policies which were favoured by the younger generation.

“I want to reiterate that our youths are not fooled by promises made by the opposition, such as in Selangor, where many promises were not fulfilled,” he added. – Bernama

Pemuda MIC Perak Membuat Laporan Polis Terhadap Ridhuan Tee Abdullah

Pemuda MIC Perak mengutuk sekeras-kerasnya sebuah artikel penulisan Ridhuan Tee Abdullah yang muncul dalam akhbar Sinar Harian pada 18 Feb 2103 bertajuk: "Kesabaran Umat Islam Ada Had”. Dalam artikel tersebut. beliau telah mencela Parti Komponen India BN yakni jelas mengutuk parti MIC yang meminta penayangan filem Vishwaroopam.

Beliau juga mengutuk agama Hindu terutamanya perayaan Thaipusam di mana beliau menyatakan bahawa "seminggu sebelum perayaan, seluruh kawasan sekitar Batu Caves sesak. Kenderaan diparkir sesuka hati. Lautan manusia satu warna berhimpun, seolah-olah tidak ada warna lain lagi di negara ini."

"Hari ini pergilah ke mana sahaja. Jika dahulu, rumah ibadat dan patung-patung tidak banyak kelihatan meriah. Kalau adanya pun agak suram dan tidak nampak tombolnya. Tetapi selepas PRU 12, keadaan jauh berubah. Mereka mendapat peruntukan sana sini, pusat dan negeri. Rumah ibadat kecil menjadi besar, tombol rendah menjadi tinggi dan berwarna-warni."

Laporan polis telah dibuat di Ipoh oleh Pemuda MIC Perak yang mendesak supaya Ridhuan Tee disiasat mengikut Akta Hasutan. Pemuda MIC juga mahu supaya tindakan diambil supaya seorang opportunis seperti Ridhuan Tee tidak masuk campur dalam hal politik jika tidak terlibat politik. 

BN will win GE13, says the Economist Intelligence Unit - Malaysiakini

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) - which is part of the respected London-based magazine, The Economist - predicts that BN will win the 13th general election based on its successful track record, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s reform agenda, and his successful economic leadership.
    
For international observers, the outcome of the upcoming polls is already clear, that BN will be victorious, said the EIU.
    
It also said that the opposition, Pakatan Rakyat, has been making "costly promises" to gain power, and that these were a big stumbling block.
    
On all these counts, Pakatan Rakyat comes a distant second, prompting the EIU to predict that BN will be the winner.

The EIU, a think tank which offers regular country, industry and risk analysis, said that "it is clearly not feasible" for Pakatan to implement all of its campaign promises.
    
"For example, providing free secondary education would cost the government RM43 billion, while abolishing car duty would cut the tax revenue by RM4.6 billion a year," it said.
    
The EIU pointed out that Pakatan had broken many of its earlier promises, including financial assistance for university students, preschool education, home buyers, senior citizens and the disabled, free healthcare for those over 65, and lower property taxes.
    
On all these counts, Pakatan’s populism has remained to be simply hot air.
    
In Selangor, for example, BN claimed that Pakatan has implemented only 15 percent of its 31 election pledges - worth RM2.4 billion - made in its 2008 general election manifesto.

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim commented that a manifesto is not a promise, but conceded that voters may think otherwise, the EIU noted.
    
Compare this with BN’s successful track record in fulfilling its promises, and you have a clear difference in approach.
    
For instance, Najib has promised Penang 20,000 affordable houses and a monorail service to ease traffic congestion, and that if BN comes to power in the state, voters are ensured that these plans would be implemented.
    
“The stakes are high for both (BN and Pakatan)... the bidding war is likely to continue as both sides make preparations for what is being billed as one of the hardest-fought elections in Malaysia’s history,” read the report.

Appeal to young, first-time voters
    
"Both will need to appeal to young, first-time voters, given that nearly three million people in this crucial voting block have been added to the electoral register since the last general election,” it added.

The EIU claimed that the "bulk of this group" was undecided about which party to vote for, and could swing the outcome of the election.
    
Najib needs to win big in order to secure the future of his reform agenda, while on the other hand, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim wants to be the first to break BN’s stranglehold on the power they have now.
    
Meanwhile, Umno is upbeat with only weeks left for the polls as Najib has said that the party’s machinery is in the final stages of its preparations.
    
"We have received the audit report on our machinery, and from there I can say that our preparations are satisfying. At the same time, I hope the efforts to strengthen our preparations will continue to be carried out by leaders at the state level,” he told reporters after the Umno supreme council meeting last Friday.

Najib, who is also Umno president and BN chairperson, made the selection of winnable candidates the focus of his strategy, making it clear that BN should field candidates with the best chance of winning, regardless of which BN component party had kept the seats previously.
    
Another key reason for the ruling coalition’s strong morale is the ‘gravity defying’ growth of 5.2 percent that the country has been enjoying under Najib’s leadership, along with a jump in domestic and foreign investments.
    
And to top it all, the country’s per capita income has hit US$9,700 from US$7,500 in 2010.    

The EIU agrees with the upward trajectory, saying that “following an estimated expansion of 5.2 percent in 2012, we expect the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to grow at the same rate during the 2013-17 forecast period."

And to top it all, per capita income hit US$9,700 from US$7,500 in 2010.
