MIC Youth secretary reinstated - The Star

Thursday February 2, 2012

KUALA LUMPUR: Former MIC Youth secretary C. Sivarraajh, who has completed his four-month suspension from the party, has been reinstated to his previous post.

MIC Youth chief T. Mohan announced the decision at the national youth council meeting on Monday.

“The apppointment is made in consultation with president Datuk G. Palanivel,” he said, adding that interim secretary P. Punithan had been appointed executive secretary.

Sivarraajh was initially suspended for a year from Aug 17 for alleging that the party had acted against MIC’s constitution by readmitting sacked members.

However, following an appeal by Sivarraajh as well as a leniency letter from Mohan, the party’s central working committee (CWC) reduced the suspension to Dec 31 last year.

Action was taken against Sivarraajh for lodging a report with the Registrar of Societies last April on the admission of the members, including three who were sacked for launching a movement to oust then president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.

The three who were sacked are CWC members K.P. Samy, G. Kumar Amaan and deputy Youth leader V. Mugilan.

Sivarraajh thanked Palanivel and Mohan for the reappointment, saying it would spur him to work harder for the party.

Earlier, Mohan urged the Youth leaders to work harder to woo young voters as the general election was approaching.

“We have strategies and programmes planned to engage the youths,” he said.
