Tailor-made for self gain DAP style – MCA Youth Perak
Press statement by Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon, MCA Youth Perak chairman and MCA Youth National Deputy Chairman
Why is Nga Kor Ming running away from meeting up with the challenge he posed to the blogger who first produced documents (payment vouchers, minutes, Companies Commission Malaysia [CCM] registration papers) indicating that Nga’s wife’s company Ethan & Elton Sdn Bhd had won the bid to supply and sew lounge suits for Ipoh city councillors after Pakatan Rakyat took office in 2008? The said blogger, Ahmad Sofiyan has already lodged a report with the Perak MACC headquarters. If Nga has nothing to shroud away, then coming up with plausible explanations should not pose a hassle.
It is a matter of public interest as to why, despite giving the most expensive quotation of RM650 per piece and being the last company being considered, while Goodman Tailor offered the lowest price of RM450, Nga’s wife company was still selected? The onus is on the state authority then to explain why Goodman Tailor’s appointment was revoked in favour of Ethan & Elton although the initial selection committee had chosen the former with the lowest bid.
There must have been a much higher authority who stepped in which we know has happened because there are minutes that the state-level authority had interfered.
If the allegations made on http://www.sekupangduas.blogspot.com/ are forged as Nga claims, why is the Pantan Remis state assemblyman hesitating to sue the blogger for slander?
Feigning ignorance
Unless of course, Nga is totally clueless of the happenings in the local enforcement bodies which he is responsible for. What more, the suits were ordered for the Ipoh city councillors, the main local authority of the capital of the silver state.
Too much of a coincidence – Ethan & Elton registered with CCM after Nga appointed exco
In the chronology of events, the decision to award Goodman Tailor was made on 3 Apr 2011. However, after Nga was appointed as state exco with the local government portfolio, Ethan & Elton was registered with the CCM whereby Nga’s wife Wong Seow Ching is one of the directors. This is too much of a coincidence.
As a lawmaker at both the federal and state level, and since Pakatan Rakyat had shouted for the end of cronyism and corruption, Nga owes the public an explanation as to how his wife’s company could slip through under the radar. Otherwise, all DAP has to show is double standards of not practising what one preaches.

Umno to contest Nizar’s Pasir Panjang seat - The Star
IPOH: Perak MIC has agreed to hand over to Umno the Pasir Panjang seat which it contested in the 2008 general election, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said.
He, however, declined to disclose which seat Umno would give up in exchange.
”This shows there is flexibility among Barisan Nasional component parties.
”We are working together based on a common understanding that seats are not necessarily to be allocated to a particular party,” he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting here yesterday.
The Pasir Panjang seat is currently held by state Opposition leader Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, who is from PAS.
Asked if Barisan would stand a better chance of recapturing the Pasir Panjang seat by putting up an Umno candidate there, Dr Zambry said only Mohammad Nizar would know that.
Dr Zambry, who is also state Barisan chairman, added that he did not know if Mohammad Nizar would re-contest the Pasir Panjang seat.
On another matter, Dr Zambry said international artiste Maher Zain's concert at the Perak Stadium here on Saturday was set to be the largest ever concert in Malaysia.
He said the singer-songwriter and music producer of Lebanese origin, who shot to fame with his debut album Thank You Allah in 2009, would be accompanied by back-up singers and musicians from Australia, the United States and Pakistan.
Entrance to the concert starting at 8pm is free. Tickets are available at the stadium.

Dr M's Vision 2020 left big impact, says Najib - Malaysiakini
Happy Birthday Tun Dr. M. May you be blessed with good health, happiness and longevity.
Vision 2020, aimed at achieving developed nation status for Malaysia by the year 2020, was among three aspects of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s leadership as prime minister that left a major
impact on the country’s development, said Najib Abdul Razak.
The prime minister said the other two aspects were saving the country’s economy during the world economic crisis in 1997 and building the people’s confidence emotionally and psychologically that they were capable of achieving anything beyond expectation through the slogan ‘Malaysia Boleh’.
“When Tun Mahathir revealed the vision for Malaysia to turn into a developed nation, it had created a new passion for Malaysians, whereby we are now in the final stage of fulfilling the Vision 2020.
“To me, there is a most fitting way to remember the deeds of a national leader who had contributed immensely, that is, we have to fulfill all the visions that he had dreamed of,” Najib said at the ‘Tun Dr Mahathir: Famous Legacy’ gala dinner as well as the launch of the ‘Mahathir Distinguished Internship Programme’ (MDIP) in Kuala Lumpur last night.
Also present were Mahathir and his wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamed Ali and the prime minister’s wife, Rosmah Mansor.
The prime minister said the government had continued the efforts initiated by Mahathir by implementing various programmes including the Economic Transformation Programme and the New Economic Model, which were all inspired by Mahathir’s vision in turning Malaysia into a developed nation by 2020.
Najib said in fact Mahathir was also the country’s economic saviour when Malaysia was hit by the financial crisis as he had refused to allow Malaysia to be under the control of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“...And I support what Tun (Mahathir) had said that he certainly would not hand over our country to be controlled by the IMF under whatever circumstances.
“On the other hand, if anyone wants to accuse him (Tun) of writing the letter (to the World Bank), I think it’s all utter rubbish,” he said.
Earlier, it was reported that opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim had claimed that Mahathir had written a letter to the World Bank.
Najib said emotionally and pychologically, Dr Mahathir had also given the people something they might not have had before in the Malaysia Boleh spirit, which was self-confidence that eventually inspired the country’s development into what Malaysia was now.
“That, I believe, is among the major impacts of Tun Mahathir’s leadership, where he had rescued the country from an (economic) crisis, placing the nation on the right track towards achieving the goal of being a developed nation, and giving self-confidence to us as Malaysians,” he said.
‘Support and motivation from everyone needed’
He added that to realise the vision 2020, the country needed the support and motivation from everyone, particularly Mahathir.
“To realise the Vision 2020, we have to cross a bridge soon. We hope we will succeed in crossing the bridge with the support of Tun Mahathir,” he said.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Mahathir expressed his appreciation to everyone who had always supported his administration previously, and for praying for his well being as well as that of his family’s.
The MDIP is a global intellectual research programme set up with the cooperation of the National Professors Council, Perdana Leadership Foundation and Institut Pemikiran Tun Mahathir to honour Mahathir’s leadership and contributions to the nation’s development and progress for the past 22 years.
The programme, which is open to candidates from abroad, enables them undergo six months of internship in Malaysia to carry out research and analysis on Mahathir’s administrative style, success and leadership as prime minister.
The event was held in conjunction with Mahathir’s 86th birthday yesterday.

Airports to use Tamil too from next year, says Kong - The Malaysian Insider
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 – Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said today international airports will broadcast announcements in Tamil from next year, catering to the large volume of tourists from India, especially Chennai.
At the moment, the KL International Airport and the low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) in Sepang both broadcast their announcements in three languages: Malay, English and Mandarin and adding Arabic and Japanese during certain seasons, according to Kong’s deputy Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri.
“The government realised that almost 90 per cent of the passengers who take the Chennai route understand Tamil rather than English due to differences in accents,” Kong (picture) was reported saying in The Star today.
According to the minister, both KLIA and the LCCT received a total of 434,050 passengers this year from Chennai, with 207,697 departures and 226,353 arrivals.
The government had reversed its decision following a public outcry.
On December 13, Abdul Rahim was reported saying the government had no plans to broadcast airport announcements in Tamil as passengers from India spoke a variety of dialects such as Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam and Telugu.
He added that they were also conversant in English.
